Protect New York City's Food Supply From Congestion Pricing

NYC Food Distribution Alliance

Congestion pricing unfairly penalizes New York City’s essential food and beverage distributors.

New York City's Congestion Pricing Program, which went into effect January 5, 2025, is driving up food costs for businesses and consumers alike and making it hard to feed those in need.  The NYC Food Distribution Alliance represents food distributors, food banks, wholesalers, restaurants, small businesses and allied organizations who are collectively asking Gov. Kathy Hochul for relief.

Our Ask: an exemption from congestion pricing for food and beverage distributors based within the five boroughs of New York City who already subsidize the MTA via the Metropolitan Commuter Transportation Mobility Tax.

With no other way to get food into the congestion zone besides trucks, we believe food should be treated like the essential service it is.
